Have you verified the tappets or are you going purely on yr/date? Generally, domestic vehicles and many imports that are at or above the 06/year are often the following upcoming year build platforms.
i.e. a model 09/10 can be considered in build platforms a 2011; whereas in the sense of say 2011 being the last year of the US based Ranger remains at a 2011. As a side note: the last year Ranger for 2011 had differences in the engine different from previous years which were pre-cursors for the 2011-2018 T6 World Ranger everyone else got but not here in N. America.
Also, what warrants a reman engine in replacement of a repair in nature?
