Question related?

I am getting an error code that Cylinder #5 is misfiring, but I am also having a issue that when I turn on the heater this smelly smoke comes out. it kinda has an oily residue. Do you suppose they are related. I have a hunch I am dealing with two separate issues. I am more concerned about getting the heater issue fixed first, than a rough idle. I cant defog my windshield and its colder than a witches tit.

I'm pretty sure your heater core has failed and sprung a leak. What year truck?

Unless something has changed in the 2008 model, I think you'll have to remove the dash to effectively replace the heater core. I've only had to do it a dozen times through the years on different makes and models.

Your heater core issue if you need to pull it isnt as bad as it sounds. Done a few myself over random vehicles, some easier than others.

As for your misfire, is the CEL on? And if so, what soft or hard codes have you pulled?

For the sake of time savings, Hit up an Autistic zone or O'really's and have them perform a quick scan for the right codes. Some of those values are jibberish to me where knowing certain codes and how they fall are more helpful. At least through that its easier to find starting points to test possible failing components in educated guesses even of what sensor is being tripped vs one that is failing.

Someone here might be able to make a judgement call on whats there but, I either need to have OBD II codes to work with or be hands on.

They should still be doing it for free too and if you can get codes I could help better.

What you have up there looks more like values from a scanner that shows you working data as if you were driving the vehicle for diagnostics troubleshooting.

As for the original question, probably not related. I would work on the miss first, could be as easy as a plug wire might be as complicated as head gasket. Depending on the complication the heater fix could be a waste of time
