Re: Engine Oil Flush - Milkshake after Cracked Heads
In the past when dealing with blown head gaskets and contaminated oil I would remove the drain plug and oil filter ( with the heads still off ), I would fill a new inexpensive oil filter with fresh cheap oil of the correct weight or close to it, then I would just put the drain plug back in, fill the engine with new oil and use a drill to drive the oil pump and run the pump for a few minutes.
After I ran the pump with the fresh oil for a while I would remove the filter and toss it out drain the engine oil and reassemble the engine.
With the engine work complete and new oil and filter in place I would run the engine for 5-10 minutes while monitoring the engine temperature and oil pressure with test gauges in place.
Then I would change the oil and filter again and run the engine for 500 miles or until the oil looks nasty but no longer than 500 miles.
After that I would just keep an eye on the color and feel of the oil to make sure I got all the water out.
