Default im stuck..

i could not find a right tool to replace my fan clutch on my ford ranger 1997 xl 2wd 3.0, no luck on auto zone advance auto parts and napa, any suggestions? , the wrench tool they sell at auto zone is for 4.9 L engines and quite big, i need a wrench and pulley tool with a two end tips to hold the pulley in place, any suggestions would be appreciated

well this works for my 2.9l so im not sure if it will work with you but i use a flat bar with a hole cut in it and hold one of the bolts on the inside part of the fan clutch with it then use a bigass adjustable wrench on the main bolt

another way you could do it is get a really large oil filter remover of the strip of rubber variety and use that to hold the pully its self

Any of the auto parts stores should have the "loaner" kit that has a various selection of the forks that attach to the bar.

hmm well if the oil filter wrench dosent work you can try and find a chain wrench which is basically a peice of bicycle chain on a stick that locks into it at various lengths and give that a try i dosent work the greatest on v pulleys but it still gets the job done
