Default 2003 3.0 V6, iridum oem?

Was planning to get plugs at Napa today but the salesman said it is supposed to have iridium? Is that right?

Is the Motorcraft plugs AWSF32PP iridium? Guessing Motorcraft is the way to go?

I personally prefer NGK plugs, Iridium or platinum will work. Its all about service life, Coppers should be changed around 30k miles, platinum at a little over twice that, and iridium a little over twice platinum plugs. I gladly put platinum plugs in my 4.0, since it is a pain to access them. My jeep? coppers all the way, since changing plugs takes like 10 minutes.

Waste spark for emissions kills plugs on one side faster than the other; some years came with iridium/double platinum on one side, single platinum on the other from the factory for cost cutting. For longevity, iridium on both sides is fine. Autolite or Motorcraft though; many other plug brands cause problems.

If you have the NON flex fuel 3.0 your part number should be AGSF32FM. The manual calls for AWSF32PP but ford retired those. The new ones are actually better apparently from what I have read.

These are the ones I was told to get and matched up part numbers. Had them on since July. Checked them 2 weeks ago and they look fine. Double Platinum. I looked on NAPA and they didnt have these though. I have been told on these trucks that Motorcraft or Ford parts is the way to go.

http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...3435&ppt=C0334

They changed the part number. The manual calls for AWSF32PP. Ford doesnt make that part anymore and changed over. so its AGSF32FM now. I did alot of research before on this. I also just redid it now to make sure I am not steering you in the wrong way.

They have it on rockauto http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo....90&jsn=3&jsn=3

Also saw it on amazon.

I looked on autozone.com they do not carry it.

advancedautoparts.com has them in stock at my zipcode but they are different. It is a motorcraft one that has the same i guess in store part number? #SP432 but it says it is only a single platinum, not a Finewire Double Platinum. It looks exactly the same in the picture. They do not have a ford part number on advancedautos website either.

I got mine from oreillys locally and I was skeptical and had to do my homework. They have been fine though.

Also do not set the gap for these, you can break it. They are supposed to come pregapped. I would inspect them before leaving the store because one of mine was bent.

Platinum is actually a quite poor conductor. It is used primarily for it's service duration (read: long lifespan) so that the 100k mile cost to own studies show you not having to do plugs. Iridium is ok, expensive, used mainly in higher end applications. Copper is the best type on the market for it's actual function. But they do wear out a lot faster and thus must be changed more often.

Platinum will serve your purposes fine.
