Nope its true. You have OBDI in your 94. It can be read, but not by a OBDII reader. I always had to take mine to my Wife's uncle who is a mechanic to get it read by him.

How to pull codes from OBDI without code reader

I had a '94 Tempo - last year I was cleaning up my basement, found the code reader (single LED version) and posted it here and sent it to someone. LoL.

You can also read the code without a code reader by jumping two of the pins and the code will flash on he MIL dash lamp: http://www.justanswer.com/ford/2rg75...ford-rang.html

a) there are three groups of codes, KOEO, KOER and CM. You MUST repair them in that specific sequence, AND withing each code group you MUST start with the lowest number code first and work in ascending numeric order. Diagnose the reason for the code, clear codes (will be clearing all of them), drive, test for codes to verify code free condition. Repeat this sequence until code free operation is achieved.

If your information is correct, then 157 is the first one to tackle Besides, seeing the O2 codes in there is a reinforcing hint.

b) Generally speaking, following the diagnostic flow charts in the FSM is the simplest and most effective way to diagnose the cause for a code.

No, I didn't say that. A code typically indicates a fault in a system, the diagnostic process (the flow charts in the FSM or wherever you opt to get your hands on them) is used to lead you to specifically identify what is wrong, of which many times there is not a bad sensor. Could be wiring, could be a ground problem, could be a bad connection, etc etc etc.

There is a very gross misconception that every time a check engine light goes off that it MUST be a code.

Do you have a working check engine light? With those symptoms, it should show during startup......unless the bulb burned out or someone took it out to hide problem(s).

It does work...when it first started cutting out on me it would come on for 10-15 minutes (hwy speed) then go off..stop and go...some days it seems like once it warms up a little it runs better
