If you think the snorkel has a lot of stuff in it, then yes, It would probably run terrible or not run at all. Engine needs air to run. Clear your air intake out and get some MAF cleaner and clean the MAF sensor. Follow directions on the can. Don't use anything on the MAF except MAF cleaner. Do not touch the inner part of the MAF sensor with anything but MAF cleaner. Allow to air dry before assembly. Once that is done, try running the truck again and see if it changed for the better. Also make sure you air filter is clean, if not replace. It is important that you run with an air filter or your MAF will get dirty quickly and cause you more problems.
