Default Poor Idle/Die after battery disconnected! HELP!!

Ok, I have had the "System too lean bank 1 & 2" code for like 1,000 miles now. I have changed the air filter, cleaned the MAF and changed the thermostat. Each time I have done these things, I have disconnected the negative on the battery to work on it. HERE IS THE WEIRD THING; every time I reconnect the battery and go to start the truck, it just sputters and eventually dies. I found that if I put it in like Neutral or Drive then back to Park, it will change the idle. I end up having to start it like 15-20 times before it finally starts. Then it runs fine after that. Any ideas? Is it just the simple fact that the computer is all messed up when I disconnect the battery? Thanks everyone!!

yeah their might be some sensor that might get messed up when the battery is disconnected. im not really sure tho becuase i havent really gotten into the electronics, just the basics. I would have the computer re-flashed and see if that helps. Other than that im not sure.

Well, I'm not sure why you did all that stuff since none of it has anything to do with a bank too lean condition. And none of those things you did require disconnecting the battery.

The lean condition I guarantee you is a vacuum leak. Behind the intake manifold under the ignition wires there are several vacuum lines. One of them is cracked and leaking. It's common and causes that condition.

When you disconnect the battery, it resets everything the computer has learned about idle. It has to relearn it which takes time. That combined with your vacuum leak is probably making it worse.
