Default Gas mileage - 01' 3l v6

Right now I'm getting about 130 miles to the tank and I know that's terrible, any one have similar problems or know any fixes?

Jeebus! Thats really bad. Do you have any codes? Any driveability problems like bucking, stumbling, or blowing black smoke from the tailpipe? I would be afraid to drive it with mileage that bad- dilution of oil by excess gas leaking past the rings and potentially washing the cylinder walls (in turn damaging rings).

With mileage that bad, you should have a code and it should be saying "system too rich bank 1" (or bank 2, or both). Go to advance auto parts and have them check for codes and pending codes, write them down, and post them here. The next thing I would do is rent a fuel system pressure tester from them and check fuel pressure with the truck at idle. It should be AT LEAST in the 50s psi range, preferably in the 60s, and no more than like 67. The first thing that came to mind when I saw 130 to a tank was "fuel pressure regulator." If you have fuel pressure in the 90s or something crazy like that, its probably the regulator.

Other possible causes-
- Multiple stuck injectors
- Bad o2 sensors (I dont think they would make mpgs that bad tho)

Other possible ways to check:
1) pull spark plugs and look for heavy carbon deposits and/or black soot on the plugs
2) pull upstream o2 sensors and look for black nasty deposits on them.

We changed the fuel filter and the truck has 150k miles and it had never been changed, things are already showing improvements, should make steady progress. When we cut open the old filter it was beyond black and "dirty". Dirty was an understatement let's just say.
