Default What oil and filter?

I'm new to the 3.0 crowd. I have a 2003 3.0 with 117,000 miles on it. It never missed an oil change. I was just wondering what oil and weight you recommend. In my 94 2.3, which I passed on to a new owner at 238,000, I used to run 10w-40 and Engine Restore at every 3000 miles. Should I continue to use the Engine Restore in my 3.0 and what weight oil should I use?

I run the factory recommended weight oil in a full synthetic with a motorcraft filter and change it at the factory recommended intervals.

I looked it up in the manual for you..........5w20 every 5k miles. the book recommends synthetic blend. I would run full synthetic. I use mobil 1 and I would use a motorcraft filter Walmart has them for about $4

Shouldn't I run a heavier weight oil with 117,000 miles on it?

My truck calls for 5w30.........that is what i run, full synthetic. I dont burn or leak any oil.......if you don't use oil put in full synthetic with the recommended weight. you could try high mileage if you think it necessary

no, you should run the oil weight that ford specifies. they recommend it for a reason.

they call for a 5w20, if its not burning oil when hot theres no reason to increase the to a 5w30, however a 10w30 wouldn't hurt with over 100,000 miles on it. Like everyone said, Mobil 1 FS is the way to go.

I have a 2000 3.0 my owners manual says 5w30 synthetic. for engines with a lot of miles i would replace a quart of engine oil with a quart of marvel mystery oil, that stuff is like liquid gold, awesome for fuel systems too

I would recommend 10w30 and replace one quart with Lucas oil treatment. I prefer using Castrol. The Lucas oil treatment is some really good stuff.

I have good things about pennzoil, valvoline, motorcraft, and royal purple. not too sure about other brands. Fram really sucks on a mojor level and castrol is a BP brand. We use motorcraft but im gonna try royal purple with my 3.0.
