My serpentine belt came off while I was driving and I'm trying to figure out why it came off. There was a lot of oil or something, everywhere. On the pulleys, belt, the underside of the hood, alternator, battery, radiator fan... just everywhere. I'm thinking that something sprayed everywhere and caused the belt to slip off. It looks like oil but I'm thinking it could be power steering fluid. My power steering has been leaking for a while now and after the incident the power steering is on empty. Another theory I have is that oil somehow was getting on the radiator fan and from there, started spraying everywhere. Anyhow, the belt came off and was really really twisted. I'm going to replace the belt tomorrow but I just don't want the same problem happening again. Help would be appreciated.

I would start by check your power steering since that was leaking and then check any other fluids (oil, trans, brake, coolant). And if it is indeed your power steering, get that fixed first before you put another belt on and drive the truck again.
