Okay I know this isn't directly engine related but I figured you guys would know the possible problems. I have a 95 ranger and my intermittent wipers don't always work. My lowest works most of the time and then all the positions from there until the non intermittent do not work correctly. They will work, then shut off for a while then come back alive. What could be the problem?

The control stem is wore out.

Sounds like a problem i had with my 94 f150, it would work on some settings but not all. Took me half hour to fix it with some dielectric grease. Here's a thread that helped me with the problem i had and is very similar to yours.

Worked for me and should be similar on a ranger, my lowest setting worked but the higher setting wasn't getting contact cause of no dielectric grease to help it make contact, give it a shot as it was an easy fix for me.
