Default 2003 Edge 3.0 5 speed Standard RWD Tranny Problems

Have had my truck about 2 months. Love it. When it is cold it runs through all rpm in all gears no problem. Once it is hot it jumps hard at 4000-4500 rpm in any gear. It does not get higher in rpm as if slipping but jolts the whole truck. When it does this I hear a kind of grinding sound. I tested something today and even in 1st with clutch in and revving it-it has that grinding sound. Any ideas?

A little hard to understand, but it could be the clutch or throw out bearing. You can remove the plastic inspection cover on the drivers side, use a bright light, and look in the bellhousing for shiny metal flakes, you can also see the throw out bearing and pressure plate fingers.

That helped a lot. It's 21:40 here now so I'll take a look in the morning when there is light. thanks.
