Thank you. I was planning on changing that this weekend. It has 700 miles before it hits the 5k mark

Great. Now go get a stethoscope and put it on the syncro. Then have someone start the truck. What do you hear?

I don't have a stethoscope.. Is listening to it going to tell me if I need to change it?

It might. Go buy a stethoscope or use a rubber hose. If you hear a chirp or grind stop driving the truck.

ok I'm at the parts store now getting the cam sync. When I listen to it, if it's chirping/grinding, what does that mean?

That means that it's getting ready to fail.
Before you replace the synch...
There is a sensor on top held on by two small (maybe 7 mm) bolts. Take the sensor off. There is a single tooth inside the top of the synch. Mark the position of the tooth relative to the outside housing.
After you remove the old synch, don't let the engine turn at all. Mark the new synch at the same spot as the old synch and reinstall. The teeth on the gear are spiral, so it'll twist about 1/8 turn or so when you put it in. Do at as many times as you need to in order to get it lined up correctly or your timing will be off.
Or, if you know how to set #1 cylinder to Top Dead Center on the compression stroke, do that and make sure the tooth is lined up with the window in the sensor.

ok. The cam sync came with a cap thing( not the sensor) that has a cut out for the tooth. Is it still gunna turn when I use that?

Re: Oil pressure
No. That cap is the "alignment tool". It basically locks the thing into place.
If you're going to use the tool, you HAVE to set the engine to #1 TDC compression stroke. If you don't know how to do that, just mark the tooth on the old one, and put the new one in at the same place.
----------
But I hope you picked up a new oil pressure sensor while you were there, because I'm about 95% sure that's the problem with your oil gauge.

It's neither actually. It's actually called an "oil pressure switch"

What brand syncro did you get? How much was it. I wouldn't do anything until you watch a few videos. You can mark it like Prages said. I can't Post THE Videos Now. Maybe Someone will.

Why did you buy an oil pressure sensor?. You said the Syncro was squeaking.
I would stop do any work on it and watch some how to's first.

well the op was about my oil pressure gauge reading no pressure till it warmed up( sensor) and then I was informed that I should probably replace my cam sync because I have 121k and I don't know if it has ever been replaced. And I am in the middle of watching a few how toos on YouTube👍

First off. You are the OP (original poster )
2nd. Please answer my questions? What brand syncro? How much money?
3rd. If the syncro is chirping and your oil light comes on then your issue is the syncro. You do not need the sensor.
4th. I would not drive the truck until the syncro is replaced.

oh I was using op as original post. My bad. But I got a duralast because autozone did not have motorcraft. It was about $40. My oil light hasn't come on, I needed the sender/sensor because the oil pressure gauge reads no oil pressure until the truck warms up. And yea I'm not gunna drive it until it's changed, which Im gunna do either tonight or tomorrow
