Oil pressure
With it being cold outside, would that make my truck say it doesn't have any oil pressure till it gets a little warm or would that be my sensor goin out or something like that..

Bad oil pressure switch. Common problem. Like a $12 part and 10 minute install

Re: Oil pressure
Ditto the sensor replacement. Kind of a pain to get to though. It could also be the dashboard gauge. My Explorer has a couple gauges that 'stick' in the off postion when it's cold outside. They always come up in a minute or so.

I drive about 10 miles a weekday and then about 120 every other weekend. But ok I'll look into the sensor!

Ahhh that's a good idea too, I need to change some bulbs in there anyway so I might check it out when I do that

Doesn't seem like a cam sync symptom to me.

I respectfully disagree. It's the first thing I would check if it was my truck. It has 121k on it.

What's the trucks history? What oil do you use? last time it was changed?

I agree the cam sync should be replaced, if it hasn't been, but I think he either has a sending unit (sensor) problem or a gauge problem.

Re: Oil pressure
If the gear on the cam sync has failed you will have no oil pressure due to the cam sync gear driven off the cam runs your oil pump. However he would have no oil pressure, cam sensor wouldnt be getting signal and throw check engine light and no oil pressure would throw check gauge light. Your engine will let you know pretty quick if it starved of oil. Doesnt take long to wipe out rod bearing with no oil and lifters will collapse.

Re: Oil pressure
All I am going to say is: anyone who has those symtoms on that truck and does not think the first thing you should do is check for a pending p0340 and to put a stethoscope on the syncro will get an F- on the FRF DXING 101 final exam.
The OP has 121 posts and no Sig. I don't think he is a GEARHEAD. For all we know he has a squeal and a code.
