Thanks for the responces! Cleaned all old pulleys today and the belt is a gatorback. When I ran the motor without it there actually is squealing so I was wrong about that. So now I'm looking towards this cam syncro thing. Is the syncro and the cam sensor the same thing or are they two different parts? Can it be replaced without removing the intake? The synchro and sensor are two separate parts. Go with the Motorcraft part. I purchased mine from RockAuto. NAPA sells the synchro with the tool so you can buy it to use the tool then return it when you are done installing the Motorcraft.

There is a great write up that I reference in my post.
I installed mine without the tool and without finding top dead center. I used my phone camera to record the relative position of the synchro and the trigger. It took less than 1 hour. Any shop that charges you more than 1 hr is taking you for a ride.
