Is your coolant rusty? You can check to see if the pump is circulating coolant by popping the radiator cap and watching the coolant. If it's swirling and circulating, water pump is working ok. If it's stagnant and rusty, the impellers could be gone on the water pump.

But, if the truck isn't over heating during warmer temperatures, then the water pump is more than likely ok. But the fins rusting away are a known problem on 3.0's if the cooling system is neglected and the coolant is never flushed.
