Default 2002 Ranger Edge 3.0L Spark Plug Torque

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone happens to know the know the spark plug torque specs for the 2002 Ranger Edge 3.0L engine (the regular gas engine (i.e. not the flex fuel))? I've seen 7-15 ft-lbs and 10-15 ft-lbs online, but have also seen 18-25.3 ft-lbs on the NGK website (though I plan on using Motorcraft plugs), and a coworker recommended 15-20 ft-lbs. Also, what torque value should I use when using anti-seize? It's my first time replacing spark plugs (or doing any work on my car for that matter), so I'm hoping to use a torque wrench in hopes of not messing anything up. Thanks in advance for the help.

Use antiseize and tighten them with a ratchet, it is fairly hard to get a torque wrench and plug socket on some of the plugs.

Thanks for your reply stateranger. I'll give the ratchet wrench a shot then. Do I just tighten them down by hand (spark plug in 5/8 socket) as hard as I can and then turn them 1/4 of a turn with the ratchet wrench?

Also, I was wondering what kind of antiseize you recommend? Should I get the copper-graphite-aluminum, the silver, or the nickel antiseize? Thanks again for your help.

Thread them in by hand with the plug socket then turn them with the ratchet until they are snug then give another 1/4-1/2 turn. As long as the anti-seize is rated for high temperatures, most parts stores have antiseize that will work for plugs right at the counter.
