I just got done removing the heads of my 3.0 Vulcan Engine. I'm taking the heads to the shop and so my next step is to clean the engine and have it ready for the refurbed heads. Does anyone have any tips on how I can remove the carbon build up on my piston heads and how I can clean up the rest of this mess without screwing anything up. Looks like #5 was burning coolant, to clean the pistons, run them to the top, use a scraper, but go easy and don't scratch them anymore than nessesary. Pack towels around the lifter area to keep stuff from going down on the cam, and into the pan. You may want to drain he pan, then pour some diesel down from the top to rinse the stuff out. Lube the cam and lifers good before putting it back together.
