Default 2005 Edge 3.0L P0174

Hello everyone! New to the site so please bare with me. I've researched this site numerous times in relation to the problem that I have. So here's the scoop...

I have a 2005 Edge 2wd with a 3.0L. I'm the second owner (purchased truck with approx.17k miles). The truck currently has 126k miles and the check engine light (CEL) recently came on for the first time. I had it scanned and the result was a P0174 code. As I've stated before, I've researched the site and have somewhat of an idea of what the problem could be. In the 100k miles I've owned the truck, there have been no problems, just routine maintence (tires, brakes, oil changes, coolant flush).

My question is, does anyone have any advice on where to start? But wait, there's some additional information. In the past 3 months, my a/c has stopped working (blows hot air), the heater/defrost does not get hot (gets to a luke warm temp), and idle isn't consistent. FYI, I have yet to do a tune up and change plugs, wires, etc.. In addition, I just installed a new set of tires.

Back to the CEL, I've cleaned the mass air flow sensor and checked for vacuum leaks. My next idea is to change the upper O2 sensor on the driver side (code stated a bank 2 sensor 1). After trying each step, do I need to have the code cleared and see if it returns?

I'm sure I've jumped around but I would really appreciate everyone's advice. Thanks!

The 3.0 motors have a rough idle, its the nature of the beast. But if it is missing, I'd do plugs, wires and coil pack (all OEM Motorcraft). The A/C not blowing cold air, it needs to be recharged. The heater/defrost not working, most likely the heater core needs to be replaced.

As for the CEL, sounds like a bad O2 sensor. And definitely replace the cam sync also if it is the original (Motorcraft part is a must). If the cam sync goes, you'll need a new motor.

Don't forget the heater temp could also be a broken blend door. Especially since the AC now blows hot, and the heat blows nearly cold, at nearly the same time of occurrence.
