Best brand of Coil Pack, Wires & Plugs for 3.0
Hey, I was wondering what the best brands of coil packs, wires and spark pulgs are for a 3.0. Because I've heard that the 3.0 rejects some brands. I have a misfire during startup on cylinder 6. Always have, but it's never been any sort of problem that's gotten worse or anything like that. But I figure it's gettin' time to replace at least the wires and plugs.
Thanks in advance

Re: Best brand of Coil Pack, Wires & Plugs for 3.0
I put NGK wires on my 98 V6 a little over a year ago. I was very impressed with the quality and fit. Seem top be equal to OEM. I just put Bosh on my Silverado and I don't have confidence in the connection to the distributor cap. They don't seem to fit well. If I hadn't got them mail order, I would have returned them.

Anything Bosch besides wiper blades and oil filters suck hardcore. All ignition/fuel/electrical components, stay far, far away from.

Coil pack, go with Motorcraft.
Spark Plug wires, go with Motorcraft.
Spark plugs, go with Motorcraft.
For everything else, there's Motorcraft.

Re: Best brand of Coil Pack, Wires & Plugs for 3.0
Ok, so exactly WHAT plugs for my '01 3.0?
I KNOW, Motorcraft and I am WAY GOOD with that!
I bleed Ford Blue so no issue there.
Read in another thread that Ford put different plugs on one side of the motor?
Which side got what and why?
What part Motorcraft numbers and/or what style (platinum, double platinum, standard etc...)?
thanks

Just go to O'Reilly's and tell them what year and 3.0 and you want OEM replacement plugs. You should get the Motorcraft platinum. They work for all 6.

Motorcraft or Autolite ONLY for plugs, and you'll want double platinums, not single. Here's why.
The waste spark system on the 3.0 wears down the electrode on one bank of plugs faster than the other. Ford installed double platinums on that side, and single platinums on the other from the factory. To avoid the confusion as to what bank needs what, just do double platinums and be good for another 100k. Otherwise, around the 30k mark, one of the electrode centers on one bank will be eaten away with the single platinums.
