Question Cruise Control Problem 01 b3000 DS

Hello All,

Before I begin i wanted to announce that I have read through other post related to a cruise control problem, but have yet to come across a situation just like mine. Of course my cruise control is not working, but the difference is my airbag light is not flashing or on what so ever. in my Mazda B3000 There is also no speed lock/cruise control light on my dash. You basically just turn it on and set your speed then if you feel the throttle move then you know its on. My vehicle on the other hand does not come on at all. Any one with ideas, I would greatly appreciate.

P.S. I have heard that there is a TSB with the cruise control causing a fire hazard... Should I even try to mess with this Cruise Control or should I just buck up and drive? Thank you!!

Never had that happen. The only problem I've had is that the cruise control pods on the steering wheel broke when it was terribly cold and I pushed them too hard. Even then, the cruise worked fine, the buttons were just not very solid.

Ya I have no idea what the issue is... There is a TSB for these trucks that say that something leaks into the solenoid and causes a fire but that's never happened to me... (Keep a Fire Extinguisher just in case But still I cant find anyone that's had the same issue as me... That's my luck though

The TSB, if it applies to your model year (you can look up TSB's and schematics on bbbind.com for free), involved the pressure operated disengage switch for the cruise on the master cyl. If the TSB has been implemented on yours, you will note that a mod has been made to the wiring at this switch. Nonetheless, a failed switch will not allow the cruise to operate. You can easily test it using your DMM.

Im gonna play devils advocate here.
Its odd your cluster doesnt have the cruise control light...
Either the cluster was swapped with one without it...or something else is up.
Im assuming your truck does actually have the cruise control servo under the hood?
Also it could be due to a bad connection in the steering wheel clockspring.

I have heard of this whole clock spring issue.. but My truck being a 2001 MAZDA B3000 I have not seen a cruise control light in either mine or in my brothers B4000 either. This truck is BONE stock. An old friend bought it brand new and gave it to my mother 4 years ago. My mother drove it always under 50% throttle. So i can 100% assure you nothing has been changed.

I never have had a "cruise Control" light on my dash board. I have a switch on the bottom left hand side of my steering wheel (If your looking at the wheel with hands at 10 and 2 it would be at About 7-8 o clock) It has a switch you move to on and then a button you push inwards, towards the steering column to set the speed. My 96 Ranger did not have a "Cruise Control" light either on the dash but it always worked. Even when I do a full dash check by turning on the key, I never see a "Crusie Control" light.

There was another thread I saw a few days ago that had diagrams of the gauge clusters of a couple of different trucks, and sure enough, some of them had no cruise control light, even when the truck had cruise control.
