Default Re: Your Gas Mileage?

My gas mileage turns to s**t when I pull my trailer with golf cart. Truck won't stay in overdrive on hills and that is what hurts it the most.
Flat highways and 65 will get me 21-22 if I drive and not in cruise. Pulling the golf cart drops it down to 15 or sometimes less.

Haven't gotten mine running good enough to try it yet.
But to all of the ones posting on here with lifts and bigger tires...have you allowed for the fact that your speedo is not accurate so your miles are not?
On my 85 F150 when I went from stock tires to 33's my speedo was off by right at 5mph.

Since this is about mileage, I read that the lift will take away mileage. If I remove the body lift and keep the frame lift what do you think it will do to my mileage? Its 17 now

Lift should not change much with mileage. It's the lift leading to bigger tires that really kills mpg.

I've got the 3.0l and I get 15-17. It's a 5 speed and I warm my truck up for 15 minutes before heading out in the morning.

Manual tranny, 2004 Edge 3.0 255/55/18 Falkens

I do get a combo mileage in the 16-18 range. But I can get 24 strictly highway. Which is a big fat lie from the window sticker. Ya, if I drive 48 mph in 5th gear for the whole tank, filling up on the fly like an F-16.

mpg for highway are for speeds like 60-70. the best speed to get more mpg is 45-48, which is right where O/D kicks in for the automatic people. if you just dont have any lights or live in country your bound to have better mpg than a city person that has stop and gotraffic.
