Default '99 Ford Ranger XLT 3.0

Ok how y'all doing. Just signed up, i came here to view a lot of threads to help solve my issues but today is extremely frustrating. I had a water pump failure. Went in with a brand new replacement. Everything went as well as could be expected. Here is where the problem begins. The alternator was doused in coolant and practically fried and was overcharging the battery putting out something like 17.8 to the battery. Not good so i went and bought a new/refurbished one... all seems well. Correct charge... everything good. But now I smell burning wires inside the cab. I have no interior lights, no wipers, washer pump, 4x4 switch or door open "ding". Looking for a concrete way to figure the exact problem. I have looked into similar issues with no avail. Fuses all checked out nothing odd and cant isolate the smell of burnt wires. Help would be greatly appreciated. Possibly some testes to run or troubleshooting would be appreciated.

I have checked both fuse boxes/ Visual and with a volt meter. No apparent issues.. and now... the O/D light is blinking and speedometer is no longer working... talk about a can of worms...

Not really sure how to go about checking relays... Found one burnt fuse 10A for the GEM and other instruments but doesn't explain the other issues with tranny to me

Disconnect the ground cable from the battery for 20-30 minutes then reconnect and start it and drive for a few minutes. Might reset some of it. Won't hurt to try. Maybe.
