K&N intake system
Looking at getting a k&n intake system to up some horsepower, don't know if I wanna spend 300$ for 10hp the one I would need to get is the K&N 57-2554 FIPK is it worth getting? Any one have one better or better idea?

The majority vote on this site claims that aftermarket intakes are pointless on these trucks and the stock intake operates the same.

Yep, the stock intake is actually more of a 'cold air' design than the K&N. Just do the airbox mod to open it up more and don't use a K&N filter or any filter needing oiled because the oil puts a film on the MAF sensor and it won't work properly.

Ok so for the air box mod, could you please explain that in a little more detail? That sounds like a much cheaper way.

If you oil it properly it will be fine. Its people who soak them that mess up their maf sensor.

They let in too much dirt for my taste. You can really see how badly they filter once pollen season comes and you look inside your intake snorkel.

AEM dry flow filter! Your 3.0 is not going any faster unless you drop it out of a plane, or dump a ton of money into real parts.

Which would probably cost less than the CAI

Link to AEM dry flow filter for a 3.0? I searched but I couldn't find it.

Re: K&N intake system
AEM dryflows are the only drop-ins or conicals I would use. I have on on my Focus' CAI, but I only have that because of how restrictive the factory ones were on those 05+ vehicles, and the fact I got a tune for it and the exhaust.
Complete waste on a Ranger. Stick with the factory $6 papers.
