05 RANGER 3.0l P0141 & P0161 CEL
How is it going? My baby just turned 90k (which is nothing for a 3.0 from what I've read and heard and hope :-P) but at about the same time my cel came on. I have a code reader/programmer and it spat out P0000, P0141, AND P0161. I have replaced both Bank 1 sens 2 and Bank 2 sens 2 with brand new BOSCH sensors. Check engine light comes on, so I clear it, within 1 tank of gas (~2-3 days) it pops back up sometimes even immediately after clearing. I have checked and replaced the HEGO fuse and the computer tech I am thought "hey just like a computer at home, if you have a corrupt file, it screws things up, so I put a tune on it with my programmer"....didn't make a difference(worth a try right). I was sugegested to check CATs by after a long drive see if one is "orange" or if one "rattles" - neither of which do. I have noted a slight decrease in gas mileage (<12mpg rather than 12.5mpg :-( ) ( think bad mpg is cause of shuddering in transmission which i had noticed for a while, but just did research on)) The truck runs great. No hiccups, no roughness, no "dying", just this freaking cel which drives me crazy. If you can think of Big Bang Theory - Sheldon...I'm similar to that.
***The strangest part about this which everyone I talk to is bewildered about is when I add a fuel additive, (ex. lucas or ...) the check engine light stays off until next time I fill her up (immediately comes on after filling tank)
I am really really confused on what this could be? Simple O2 sensors makes sense but nope, my luck it doesn't LOL
