Re: 2JZGTE Swap
But you know how engines work.
I didn't mean whereeee to build it,
I meant where can I learn howwww.
I have no Idea what I would need to build my own engine.

Do you have any friends who are knowledgeable and willing to help? That would be your best bet.

Tech college, there are a ton of books, here, and you can definately learn with good friends and a few beers lol I learned to build with some of my best friends. I've built a lot of engines. Not necassarily flashy but they got the job done. And only two have blown up, that was due to owner stupidity though lol

I don't really have any friends that know how to build engines, I'm only 18, about to graduate.
Tech Schools, like mechanic type schools?

Re: 2JZGTE Swap
If you want to learn yourself, a mechanic school would be great. Check out your local Community College for course.

Yup, I am getting a 4 year degree in diesel technology, I graduate in 9 days lol I went to a community college first, and love it. Wyotech is decent, so is UTI. Go to car shows and make friends too. I learned a lot just from bullshitting with the old school hot rodders.

Lol, I'll look into the community colleges around here for an intro to see if I like it,
How do you find out where the local car shows are?
I haven't been able to find any since I've moved to Denver, and I know theres a lot around here.
C'mon. It's denver!

Lol get on the website for the dragstrip down there and check the schedule. Check the truck mags, check CL they might list them there, or just punch car shows into google or something.

Re: 2JZGTE Swap
Lololol.
Everytime I typed it in on google, I didn't get anything good.
This time? Found a helluva lot.
Thankya sir.
So, is it possible to build an engine that could get like 300HP before putting in turbos/superchargers and such?
How would you find stuff like that, that would work with it?

Re: 2JZGTE Swap
Do some research on the motors you are considering, see what they are capable of N/A.

Almost anything is possible. I had an naturally aspirated 383 stroker Chev I put in my K5, 475 hp, gnarly high compression and cam.

Re: 2JZGTE Swap
Thats the problem, I don't know what I want. I can't decide if I want something more old school muscle and has a nice loud rumble or something fast and quick like a tuner type engine.
If I built my own engine, based on an older muscle car, would it still be considered older than my trucks engine? Or newer because it was built?

They are going to base the year of the engine you put in on what the date stamping is on the engine block. So you need to find a v8 that is newer then what you have now or the same age. At least that is how they do it in Cali. Personally I'd go for a Supercharger with that engine, or go for the 5.0 out of an exploder

Lol true, but for your first build it'd be easier to do something that has been done time and time again. Otherwise I'd say do the Supra swap, it won't hurt anything and it'd be way different. But good luck finding anyone the knows a lot to help you out, They are kind of exotic engines in these parts lol
