Default Did my fuel pump go out?

Yesterday I was driving and my truck dies and engine light turns on.
Engine temp was perfect.
All electrical accessories work.
Engine freely cranks over.
So I turned the key to the off position and waited a couple of minutes.
Turned the key and turn it back on and there was no fuel pump sound.

To me it sounds like the fuel pump is out any ideas???
thanks

p.s. There is fuel in the tank.

Check the fuel pump relay first.

I checked the fuse and everything is good there.
turned the key to check for any fuel pump sound and again no luck.
I lowered the tank and found that I need special tools to remove the fuel line(s). I am headed over to the parts store to purchase the tool.

I purchased a code reader.

P0232 - Fuel Pump Secondary Circuit High

Anyone have code before?

Is the fuel pump relay in the fuse box? or does this code eliminate this problem?

thanks for your assistance

You have a high resistance or high voltage? Your relays are in the fuse box I believe under the hood. There is no way to tell if the relay is bad without just replacing it. I would start there and see what happens.

Normally the high code means your fuel pump shit the bed.

Here's a trick:
You can have some one in the cab of your truck crank the key, while you hit the bottom of your fuel tank with a hammer (hit the shit out of it, but not enough to ruin your tank lol). That'll agitate your pump, and might let your truck start. If it does then you know for sure it's you pump.

weird, I called a couple of auto parts stores and they can't find the relay in their computer systems I called a third store and they have it.
This makes me wonder if my '04 3.0L ranger has a fuel pump relay.
Fortunately I pulled it from my truck. the spot is 48A.

Sever the fuel filter from the truck and turn the key but not to start the truck the pump should be primed and spitting out fuel where the filter is suppose to be. If that does not happen most likely your pump is shot. Remeber go with the flow thoe hose behind the filter is for the flow of fuel to the filter to the engine. If fuel comes out from the front of the hose where the filter sits your doing alright. Thats fuel coming back from the engine but the fuel has to come out of the hose from the tank.

Smile Re: Did my fuel pump go out?

I started trouble shooting.
1st - test for codes = P0230 and P0232
2nd - disconnected the fuel pump relay resulting P0230 and P0231
3rd - reconnected the relay and tested again resulting in NO CODES
4th - I tested it again (KOEO) and again and again to make sure = NO CODES
5th - I tested KOER and again = NO CODES
I ran each test several times and nothing...

But in the Continuous testing codes P0230 and P0232 still appeared.

What is CONTINUOUS MEMORY test?

I cleared the truck's computer memory with my code reader.
I have driven a few miles and no problems. I read that it takes about ten miles for the computer to recalibrate itself.
Has anyone gone through this?
