Hi i am working on a 98 Ranger 3.0 i have 5 codes P1130 ,P1132, P1152, P0172, P0175 THE*MAF*was replaced and passenger side upstream o2 no change since the codes are for running rich and lean there is black smoke coming from the tailpipe the truck is getting horrible gas mileage about 30 to 40 miles to a quarter tank has anyone come across this problem before would really appreciate the help thanks

Have you tried a new pcv valve ?

I have changed to PVC the problem is is she had the motor changed out about 2 years ago and it has been doing it for about a year and a half before I have gotten it is there something special that has to be done to the computer

so today I pulled the cat of the truck and they are completely hollow I think I will replace them and hope for the best

If you replace hollowed out cats with new, good cats, and it's running rich and puking black smoke out the back like you say, you will destroy those new cats in no time at all. First cure the DTC's and why it is running massively rich, then put in a cat.

*They are probably hollowed out because they got plugged from it running overly rich.

so I swapped out the mass air flow for a new one again just to make sure it was working did spark plugs and wires and other 02 seems to be running better but is getting back to the way it was now the code I am getting is P1132 P1152 and a pending P0136 now in the back of my mind was the fact that the motor has been swapped out they know nothing about the motor that was put in I am trying to find out if it was a flex fuel or not I pulled the numbers of the fuel injector and from what I can find it says it is a flex fuel 21 lb/hr the # on the injector is. (denso XL5E-A2A ) the truck is a 98 so I know it's not flex fuel does anyone no what the stock injector lb/hr should be

FFV injectors are the same flow rate, the only difference is the rubber parts to stand up to the ethanol. The majority of differences are in the fuel lines and the head shapes. Those injectors shouldn't cause your problem, unless they're bad or gummed up.

ok I got a live feed scanner my long term fuel trim1&2 at idle stays -23 on the freeway is -25 my short term fuel trim 1&2 goes from -10 to +5 at idle on the freeway is -20 to +25 my tps goes 30% to 40% at idle so I figure it is probably bad as I believe it should be around 15 or so does anybody know what this mean
