3.0 Idle Problems
Hi guys Im new here and I need some help. I have a 2002 Ranger 3.0 2WD AUTO with 120K miles. My CEL came on last week and It read as a vacuum leak, which was coming from a crushed and cracked PCV Elbow. After having to replace the whole PCV assembly the CEL went away. Then after the engine had time to heat up, was in gear, and in idle it would drop down to 500 RPMs and sound like it was about to stall then kick back up to 1100 RPMs. This cycle would continue till I gave it some gas. I replaced the IAC after that and that stopped the problem as long as I do not have the AC on. The CEL is not on, but it has pending P0171 and P0174 codes.
Since changing the IAC I have cleaned the MAF, Changed the Fuel Filter, checked the fuel pressure which is fine at 60 psi, and cleaned the throttle body. I have checked for vacuum leaks with carb cleaner with no success. While checking for leaks I noticed white smoke coming out of the exhaust, does that mean the carb cleaner got in? I am very confused and have no idea what to check next. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
BTW it sounds like I have a small exhaust leak (faint tapping/ticking noise under acceleration) and a drop in K&N air filter, but I do not think these are related.
