Will a 3.0L auto engine bolt onto my 5-speed trans??
I know probably old question you've all heard it 100 times but I'm a rookie with this Ford that's the reason for the rookie question I did try the search button don't worry didn't come up. I own a 1996 Ford Ranger 5-speed 4x4 with the 3.0L Vulcan engine the head gasket went the previous owner cooked the engine I picked it up cheap with 3" lift done bush bumpers clean body and interior good drivetrain newer clutch and so on. My question for you experts is can I bolt in the same Vulcan 3.0L but out of a 1999 auto Sable? I took a look at it last night 204xxx kms runs great owned by old lady trans is shot like usual selling it cheap. I know the bellhousing pattern is the same but anything else that I don't know to get it to bolt in? I can fabricate it in there if needed just need to know what, if anything, needs to be cut/moved/welded.
Thank you
Dave.

How would you even begin to attach a front wheel drive sable engine to a rear wheel drive ranger transmission??

I think you can but you need to pull the heads and install ranger headgaskets. There is a thread around about it.

I think you also have to swap pickup tubes and oil pans, serp belt setup sensors, etc. In the end it might be easier to just pull the heads from the 96 have them cleaned up and reinstall.
