Default switching to full synthetic oil...

Im thinking about switching to full synthetic in my ranger and my wifes car.
Ive got about 72k on my engine and her car has about 103k.

Whats a good brand to go with?
A coworker says he uses Mobil1 in his big dodge.
But he says alot of full synthetics will harden and thicken up in freezing weather.

we'll get lots of opinions but few facts. I'm interested in people's opinions if they can cite references. I'm using mobil 1 in both vehicles.. why? because it is in a pretty jug.

I run mobile 1 in the girlfriends Subaru because she always shifts late, lots of rev's. I run the Motorcraft synthetic blend, but was thinking about full synth, maybe mobile 1.

Go to 'bob is the oil guy' .....you will learn more about oil than u ever wanted to.
Any API certified oil, changed regularly, will take your motor beyond the point where the rest of the truck is junk.
Mobil1 is a good product. My ranger seems to like it.

I've been using mobil 1 full synth since I got the truck at 150k miles and it works great. The past few nights have been around -13 no wind chill and the truck cranks over a miniscule amount slower. I have ran valvoline for one oil change and anything lower than about 15 degrees the motor would make a ziiinnng noise for a few seconds when first started. I have never experienced that with m1, No matter how long it has sat or as cold as it has been.

I say convert on over lol

For over 40 years I used Valvoline conventional. Through many high mileage vehicles I've never had an issue what so ever. Years ago I had to replace the rocker arm cover gasket on an 85 F150 300cid with 160k on it. The rocker arms and springs etc. were bright and clean. Not a spec of sludge build up. I couldn't argue with success. I recently switch to synthetic. Of course, Valvoline SynPower. I just had to give in to technology. If it just does as good as the conventional I'll be happy.

Valvoline is great! Stopped my oil leak until the valve cover gasket went poop but the valves were a sparkling gold beauty

Valvoline synthetic blend here. No complaints but I haven't opened the engine or anything.

I'm running Mobil 1 high mileage in my truck and haven't had any issues with it. When I ran royal purple before it leaked out of everywhere.

My friend was telling me of a video where they put different oils in plastic bottles and left them on a concrete floor over nite in freezing temps and then flipped the bottles upside down to see which ones were solid..and the royal purple was the worst.
