Unhappy 03 edge no start.

Ive been looking for an answer for two months now, hopefully somebody here can help. Got an 03 edge ext cab with 6cyl 3.0 2wd, the engine will crank but no start, hasnt started since before thxgvng.

ive replaced the cam position sensor and crank sensor,
changed fuel pump relay
i can hear the relay click on and off but not the pump [but i never heard the pump even when it was working]
i even went as far as to jumper short the inertia cutoff
its got fuel getting to the rail, press at rail is 49

hard to check for spark [no helper]

battery not a problem have charger/starter with enough amps

ive even tried using starter fluid, it'll run for about 5-10 seconds then die again.

any ideas would be helpful, thanks

Hope this helps:

-The spark plugs could be worn, faulty or incorrectly gapped.
-The coil pack may be faulty or have loose wires
-The timing belt may be messed up
-Their may be no power going to the starter

Can you tell us more about what happened leading up to the problem?

Did something significant happen then it wouldn't start afterwards or was it like you came out to start the truck in the driveway and it wouldn't start?

You say it runs for 5-10 seconds with starting fluid, are you spraying it into the intake then going around and starting the truck or spraying it into the intake while cranking?

its done this three times before. i would drive a short distance turn truck off, run into store for a few min, come back and it would just crank and crank then batt would drain down to where it would just click.
i give it a few hours, and try it and it would start and run fine for a month or so then it happened again. same thing i wait awhile and it starts.
this last time though it didnt start back.

when i spray the start fluid into the intake, it runs then dies.

If it'll run on starting fluid, then it's getting spark.

You're sure you've got pressure at the fuel rails? Is there a fuse or something on the injectors that could be blown? Acutally, with it happening intermittantly, I'd look at the wiring harness where the injectors plug in. Take it apart, see if it's corroded or anything, clean it up, and put it back together.

I would pull the fuel filter off and then see if you have fuel comming out at that point.. replace the fuel filter. Then find the feed line at the Engine and pull it off and check too see if you have good flow too that point...

I doubt the injector harness is corroding and causing this. I don't remember how the fuel pump is controlled on those trucks but if there is a separate fuel pump driver module that's where I'd be looking

If you have fuel rails for the Injectors.. there should be a Shrader Valve on it .. kinda looks like a tire valve stem.. depress it and turn the key on .. this will bleed your system....

It does sound like a fuel problem.

I have the same truck and engine. The fuel pressure is supposed to be 65 +-5 psi. You are getting 49, which should start and run but just not optimally... but it's something to work out when your main issue is solved.
