Coolent leak HELP!
I have a coolent leak on the front end of the motor. Im thinking its the water pump, but just trying to find out for sure. Its not leaking out the top of the water pump, but looks like its from the side. I have been told to ask about the lower intake, could that have a coolent leak at all? If not what else could I check or would yall think would be it. I have checked the hoses the upper and lower radiator hoses that go to or around the water pump... any help would be nice, thanks!

Re: Coolent leak HELP!
Is there a how to on it or any pictures you found or took? Also is there any special tools I would need or anything that needs to be put on in sync besides the timing chain?

Nobody reading this can actually tell you exactly where your cooling system is leaking, if you want to know "for sure" and if it's not spewing a visible amount from the source, then you need to go borrow/rent a cooling system pressure tester. There is no other accurate and reliable way, that's the reality of it.

Re: Coolent leak HELP!
I need to do the same thing. My leaks antifreeze and now its noticeable through the top left (looking at the engine head on) of the timing cover. When you're in there you might as well change water pump and timing gears and chain. Its a moderate job, apparently the hardest parts are breaking the nut and removing the fan clutch, and the water pump bolts behind the bracket.
Parts arent too bad, but its one of those things that when you are in there you might as well replace other things.

Re: Coolent leak HELP!
I had the same thing happen with my 3.0 ranger. I thought it was the hises an it ended up being the elbow that the cooling temp sensor screws in to, check that first before u go buy a new water pump.
