Yes. That is what you need. However, it's recommended you get this and the cam sync from Ford, as the parts store brand ones have a high failure rate. It's not that hard to replace, an experienced mechanic can have it done within a half hour. It's just a matter of finding a decent mechanic who can do it right.

While you're replacing that CPS, you're gonna want to pull your cam sync and check it too. They are notorious for failing on the 3.0, and it's important to keep an eye on them. It's the half-distributor thing that the CPS bolts to.

Also, 96 was the verge of the swap from distributors to a distributor-less ignition system on Ford Rangers, so you may have a different style CPS.
