How did you determine the battery is good? Did you load test it?

If not, id bet you have a bad cell in it. If you have access to a DVOM, place the DVOM on the hood when it is open so you can see it. Either by manipulating the leads to the battery take note of:

- the resting voltage
- the voltage drop upon start up
- the voltage as its running [assuming it starts]

if the resting voltage is at or near 12.4v - 12.8v DC great!
if the the voltage drops below or anywhere near 10.2-10.5v that's an indicator of a weak(er) battery, and there is a cell or multiple cells soon to fail. If it drops below 10v there is clearly a bad cell in it and the battery should be replaced.
As it starts, the voltage should be between 13.4v - 13.9v DC, I don't see this as your issue. As mentioned, I think your issue is in the battery.

The only other item i could see is similar to my 95 Ford Escort where the Starter circuit would latch in the ON position without cranking and drain the battery. Again, dont feel this is your issue just thought I'd throw it in because the ALT doesnt always have to be the culprit.
