Thank you for the detailed response Jim. I'm really getting debating what to put in as I don't want a unit that doesn't look out of place (chrome, crazy colors, etc), hence why the Sony stands out.

The brightness at night and sound quality might be a deal breaker for me. I hate the way cheaper units push the bass. I may save for a better reviewed unit... I really like the physical volume knob on this though. Too bad.

I'm also noticing that Crutchfield talks about bypassing the factory amp as an option when installing. I need to look into the implications there. This is my first time changing/installing a head unit so I'm trying to take my time and do it right.
