Actually it doesn't have true vtec anymore. Most Honda's don't now. They went from conventional headers to a single port exhaust to enhance emissions. By doing so they had to maximize lift on the exhaust cam so it wouldn't choke, and since it's already at the limit of the exhaust port they eliminated the exhaust vtec and only have it on the intake side. So no real jump like the old cars, spread throughout the rpm range. That's why a supercharger works well on these since it stays relatively linear all the way til redline
