Default Losing Power?

Hello, I have a 1990 Ford Ranger 2.3l and I bought the truck with this problem, sadly I didn't know it had it until i had paid and tried to take it home.

The truck cranks real nice, sometimes takes a second turn to crank it but it's understandable seeing how it's a 20 year old truck. It shifts into gears real smooth too, but the problem is after about a mile, it loses power and doesn't accelerate and wants to stall? I open the hood and there's a lot of white smoke coming from a tube that goes from the engine to the intake(i think) It looks to be going to the radiator but it doesn't...

I have replaced fuel filter, did oil change, spark plugs replaced, and new filters also, but i do not know what it could be that's causing this problem. Also i think the thermostat isn't working because it doesn't show any movement on the dash.

If you need any pics i can post some because i really need to fix this truck asap because i don't have another car.
