the other thing about drum brakes is they are a lot harder to "lock-up". Back when I was following it a lot, drag racers used to switch to front drums brakes to keep from locking up the tiny front wheels at the top end...so that kinda makes sense for rear brakes on a small truck that will be lightly loaded most of the time
