Default Re: Crankshaft pulley bolt 2.5L

Reviving an old thread just to give a different and much easier method to loosen or tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt (at least on the 2000 Ranger 2.5L). The crankshaft pulley has two holes around its edge (see picture #1). I assume that is for the special Ford service tool built to hold the pulley. If you stick a strong bolt or metal rod into one of those holes, you can use it as a stud and run a pipe between that stud and the socket that you already have over the pulley bolt (see picture #2). Push on the pipe in the opposite direction that you're pushing on the pulley bolt. It will hold the pulley in place.

BTW, put some cardboard over the radiator (see picture #2) to protect it from accidental bangs and scrapes by tools and parts.
