Interestingly though, under the filter I found about 30 pea seeds which must have been deposited by a mouse/chipmunk.
After cleaning the MAF sensor, I've seen no change in performance. We had a little 'near' snow yesterday and I detected a hint of the skip but nothing definitive yet. I have to assume the problem still exists despite following the suggestions of all concerned here. My thanks to all who have offered their thoughts.
