I doubt you would smell a fuse unless there is a short that completely melted it. Either way there is a short. Hopefully not inside your deck. You need to take a look at your wiring and check for melted spots or components.

thats what I was thinking! if you smell something burning, I'd be willing to bet its a wire shorting out. maybe your ground is loose?
