Default Re: inverter, what's the highest amount?

Whatever, the query was "what is the maximum" and the maximum is about 1500 watts... now the reality is more like 500 which is more than sufficient for a battery charger for a portable drill or whatever.

In my case I run a second deep cycle battery and seldom use more than 500 watts of the available power anyway. However there are times that I need in my trade (R.F technician) that I require more in remote areas. keep in mind that in addition to the cost of the inverter I also have the extra battery and isolator and thirty feet of #0 gauge welding cable for charging and power supply to the inverter. total cost is about 500$ here in Canada. probably not equitable for casual use but a workable system for my needs.

To supply current at 120 volts you require 10 times the input current at 12 volts so 500 watts out at 120 volts is 5000 at 12 volts under ideal conditions, assuming zero losses which as we know can never be.
