A few months ago my battery died on me and wouldn't keep a charge, so of course the first boneheaded thing I did was run out and buy the most expensive battery available at the nearest auto parts store: an Optima Yellowtop.
Turns out it was a bad alternator instead and I got a rebuilt one. At the time I didn't know about the "Big 3" or I would have just upgraded the alternator to something more powerful. Live and learn--
