Default Rear Brake Noise

I just picked up a 98 Ranger XLT 4x4 and I think I have a rear brake problem. I have always been in the habit of using the parking on every vehicle I've ever owned to save wear and tear on the tranny when parking (prevents that slight roll you get when you don't use it). Anyway, when I first drove the truck, it wasn't making any noise from the rear brakes. Now that I've used the parking brake I have a bearly audible high pitch squeal coming from the rear brakes as I'm driving. The noise stops as soon as I apply the brake. The service manual I have says that the parking brake is self adjusting (so I can't do anything to fix it there). Am I going to need to do a complete rear brake job (shoes, springs, hardware, etc.) to fix the problem?
