I know this thread is pretty old, but I was wondering if someone could help? I have a set of Eagle Alloy wheels that are oxidized and pitted front and back, backs are the worst. There is also some nasty curb rash in places. I want to do this process but start out at a very low grit. I'm debating a 80-180-240-320-500-800-1000-1200-1500 grit process to get these things spotless but have a question. When actually wet sanding, would you sand the ENTIRE wheel throughout the stages? Meaning where some places have bad curb rash and other places are simply oxidized, would I still need to sand the entire wheel with 80 grit, even in the places that are at very most oxidized? I had someone tell me they wouldn't go any lower than maybe 1200 in oxidized spots, and would obviously do 80 grit on only curb rash and bad pitting. I'm basically wondering if the entire wheel needs to be sanded throughout each grit, no matter the condition of cleaner spots. Hope this makes sense y'all. Thanks in advance for any help!
