Default 90 ranger has many codes and does no like to run in very cold weather.

I went to start my truck this morning. She was having none of it. she would start for about 5 seconds bog down from 1000rpm to 500rpm, then consequently shut down. I pulled the code 64 with the koeo. I then pulled 10, 64, and 98 with koeo test.

64-ACT circuit grounded.
98- Electronic pressure control driver failure in processor.

The truck does run and drive after I get it moving by forcing the rpm to 1000 holding down the accelerator.

run a koer test once it's warm if you can

first thing is going to be testing the IAT sensor versus temp to verify if sensor is reading wrong.

code 10 is not a code - probably the separator pulse between koeo and cm codes(?) (how do you blink 0 and know that it blinked? )

98 - I think you need to re-run the tests to make sure you're actually getting this specific code.

I would check fuel pressure to be sure that it's right, fuel pressure is important and can lead you in circles if you're looking for an electrical problem, but it's really fuel. checking fuel pressure is one of the first things I do, on top of pulling codes.

I have fuel pressure when the key is turned to on but not when the vehicle is just sitting. So I'm thinking that I may need either a new fuel pump or a new fuel regulator. I'm pretty sure this fuel pump in the truck is the oe. So I may need to see if its had better days. Code 10 refers to a unbalanced cylinder one. And it can tell zero by it skipping the second digit. I'm also using a code reader and not grounding the circuit. Code 10 basically means that I may have to remove and inspect the fuel injector on cylinder 1 and see if it needs replacing.

there is no code 10. the fuel system primes 2 times 1-2 sec each when you put the key on run, and doesn't do anything until it gets a signal from the pick up in the distributor.

Code 10 is the computer version of a spacer between the tests
A code 10 just means it finished the first part of the tests and is beginning the second
The fuel pressure is supposed to be zero when the key is off
When you turn the key on you should hear the fuel pumps priming the system and then you should have 35-45 psi
If the fuel pressure is different than that let us know and we can help you diagnos the real problem
