1988 ford ranger 2.9 v6 wont start
1988 ford ranger 2.9 wont crank. put new coil new distrubitor and rotor button on. have spark comming out of spark plug wires and fuel going into EFI. what else am i missing can anyone help me.

There are 6 things required to make a 2.9 run
Fuel pressure Spark Timing Compression Air Computer So have you checked fuel pressure? Have you checked that the distributor rotor spins when the engine is cranked? Have is checked compression? Is the spark hitting on a regular basis or is it erratic? Have you checked for codes in the computer Trust me on this one a little troubleshooting will save you tons of frustration and money

best way to check timing is to pull the spout and watch the balancer with a timing light (hook up a switch to the solenoid) to make sure it's on 10BTDC.
"fuel going into EFI" I'm assuming that your fuel system is pressurizing. If you have compression and spark, I would think you you're not getting an injector pulse. (or bad gas  ) Something worth checking over. Never hurts to check codes either, and might get you in the right direction.
