Default '90 2.9 misfiring?

question for all of you out there, my 2.9 misfires and doesn't have the best acceleration unless i push it hard to the floor, and it misfires enough enough to shake the truck slightly as it does, i know the cap and rotor button are new, plugs and wires are fairly new from previous owner. what else could it be?

injector, huge vacuum leak, dead cylinder, etc. one of those things that you have to check everything to find. I would start by checking the condition of cylinders while checking plug condition. If it's a consistent mis-fire, pull off/replace plug wires one by one until you narrow down which cylinder is misfiring (don't touch wires with engine running....) - then check cylinder condition (compression test) and go from there to determine what it is. Scan computer for codes, check your fuel pressure.

Shouldn't have too much trouble, once you know where to look it's a lot easier. The main thing is making sure the 'vitals' are right, like checking the compression and fuel pressure. If both are good, then you eliminate a lot of possibilities. It's a process of elimination, otherwise you're just taking guesses - especially if the system isn't known that's causing the problem (like is it a fuel problem ??).
